Rags to Riches

Cinderella is the fairytale that every little girl dreams about; from being belittled by the people that are supposed to have your back, sneaking out to the ball and meeting the prince, having the rush of nerves while trying to make it back on time so no one finding out who you actually are, to finally beating the evil in your life and riding off into the sunset with your prince. Going from rags to riches through marriage is pretty realistic depending on what part of marriage you are talking about. If your only looking at the money aspect of someone's marrage it may look like they didn't gain much, but if you look at the actual person they married, how happy that person makes them it seems like they were given everything they could have asked for. Even if this is the case, a person should just sit around and hope that money falls into their lap. If they really aspire to be richer than they are they should have to work for it. The concept of going from rags to riches through the use of magic is less realistic than marriage is. Even though Cinderella had the help of the pigeons in the Grimm version and her fairy godmother in the Disney version, she never stopped working. She never once said that she deserves the help and that she deserves the prince. She kept working and did whatever her stepmother told her to do. She did everything in her power to get to the ball herself. It was the moment where she felt most devastated that the magic stepped in to help. While it is fun to think about having a fairytale life and have a rich prince fall in love with you, one thing that anyone who reads or watches Cinderella should learn is that you shouldn't expect things to be handed to you and that you should work for whatever you want.
